October 10-12 - Lake George Tactical, Lake George, New York
Kirk Sullens (a fellow member of the Bramble Schoole) and 'Doc' ventured beyond their usual 16th century venues to participate in the "invitation only" Lake George Tactical French and Indian War re-enactment. It was an incredible living history simulated combat experience.

September 17-18 - Stephen Hand Historical Swordplay Seminar, Tulsa OK
The Tulsa School of Defense and the Bramble Schoole of Defence joined forces to host internationally renowned author and historical swordplay instructor Stephen Hand. Stephen devoted the first day to the works of George Silver-- the second day to I.33, the oldest extant Western European swordplay treatise.

June 4 - Drake's Raid, St. Augustine, Florida
The Bramblers travelled en masse to Florida to participate in the 20th annual reenactment of Drake's Raid on St. Augustine. With the tireless assistance of our point-of-contact Davis Walker, we were able to easily fall in with the ranks of pikemen and chase the Spaniards from the town yet again.

With temperatures in the nineties, Director Scott Crawford led a strictly enforced hydration regimen.

April 23 - St. George's Day Muster, Nixa, MO
This school of 16th century military skills was highlighted by "The Rescue of Kinmont Willie", a riotously fun tactical combat scenario adapted from historical events by Bramble Schoole Director Scott Crawford.

5th International Western Martial Arts Workshop 22-24 October 2004 -- Amsterdam, New York
Scott Crawford and I presented 'The Medical Reality of Historical Wounds' at WMAW 2004. The presentation was very well received, and we were honored by the comments of various distinguished guests in the audience. We've been asked to adapt the lecture for publication.

BAXTER SPRINGS 2 OCT 2004 & JEFFERSON CITY 26 JUNE 2004
Our two major living history / educational presentations this year were at the Bridgewater Ren Fair in Baxter Springs Kansas and at the MRRL Ren Fair in Jefferson City Missouri. We presented various aspects of Elizabethan era military skills, including period swordplay, pike and musket demonstrations. New this year was an excellent presentation by Scott Crawford on the manufacture of gunpowder.

ENGLAND -- MAY 2004
May saw a whirlwind tour of London and southern England. I trust that this family trip will prove to be a reconnaissance for a Bramble Schoole visit in 2006.
