A Different Kind of Lesson ...
In 1986 (while still an undergraduate at the University of Miami) I began providing hands-on history lectures for the public schools. My goal was to make history and historical literature more accessible, more exciting, more "real" by providing students the opportunity to see and touch replicas of historical armor, weapons, tools, clothing, etc. At the same time, I was working with the Chessmasters d'Vizcaya, a theatrical swordplay troupe affiliated with the Renaissance Historical Society of Florida.

After 4 years of medical school in Oklahoma, I spent 11 years at the behest of the Army, living and travelling from the tropics to the subarctic. Along the way, I continued to perform, direct and lecture with a wide array of organizations:
- University of Oklahoma
- Oklahoma Christian College (Now Oklahoma Christian University)
-
Southern Nazarene University
- Oklahoma Shakespeare in the Park
- Fairbanks Shakespeare Theatre & Fairbanks Drama Association
-
Southwest Missouri State University
-
Public Schools in Oklahoma, Alaska, Washington and Missouri
I'm currently working with Bartholomew Bramble's Schoole of Defence and the Arts Mylitarie, an Elizabethan era historical swordplay troupe with a strong educational mission.
