Jamestown Settlement
Jamestown Settlement Volunteer Training Academy - February 18 & 19

Scott Crawford, Steven Roe, Kirk Sullens, Mona Pieron and I travelled to Virginia to participate in the Jamestown Settlement Volunteer Training Academy.  This two day seminar introduces reenactors to the philosophy and mechanics of historical interpretation at Jamestown Settlement in preparation for the 400th anniversary activities in 2007.  We enjoyed the training and hospitality of the Jamestown Settlement staff, including the opportunity to sleep in one of the buildings in the Settlement.  With a low in the teens and a high the following day that didn't reach the freezing point, we gained a new appreciation for the hardships of the original colonists.
